Poker IV – strategy
It is interesting how a gambling game like poker can be raised to an artistic level by serious gamers. Even as chance and probability play big role in determining who would emerge as the winner, the game of poker can also played judiciously and tactically. As a matter of fact the strategies used by gamblers who take poker playing seriously are many and if used with care can help them win not only when they are in a strong position but also when they have a weak hand.
A very handy ploy used by many poker players is the trick of deception. So when a gambler is bluffing it induces his opponents to fold their superior hands and when he introduces slow playing in the game, he places weak bets although he holds a strong hand. Another strategy commonly used in playing poker is raising the bet. If someone has a very strong hand, by raising the value of the bet, he stands the chance to win more dough and also there is a likelihood that his opponents may fold and be prevented from bettering their hands. Bluffing in poker also goes hand in hand with raising as not knowing that the player had a weak hand when he raised, others with stronger hands may fold. Moreover raising is a sure way of gaining information regarding the opponents’ hands by making them respond or withdraw.
A very important thing to remember when one embarks on a poker playing spree is the manner he plays. One may either play aggressively by betting and raising, or play passively by checking and calling. Only a very good and experienced gambler who knows the art of using deception discreetly can play passive and still stand the chance to win. Otherwise, it is aggressive playing that most definitely determine the winner as opponents tend to make mistakes when confronted by a series of bluffing and raising.
